PR Account Manager

An Account Manager is a professional who helps to develop and manage key accounts, build and deliver new business, and manage the human and financial resources of their team. (S)he can demonstrate broad-based skills and provide consistent strategic and tactical advice, analyses and solves problems, develops programmes and oversees the development and delivery of a high-quality output by the team.

KEY COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum 4-year relevant professional experience
  • Track record of working in a communication agency is a must
  • Familiarity with B2B work and corporate communications
  • Very good understanding of influencer marketing and solid personal influencer network
  • Passion for news and current affairs, essential
  • Flair for identifying strong media angles, pitching into media, securing high quality coverage
  • Good network of online influencers and media contacts
  • Strong account management and organisational abilities plus smooth, confidence-winning client handling skills a must
  • Ability to support junior members of staff and train-up required
  • Understanding and experience of integrating social media into corporate and B2B client work desirable
  • Ability to develop business for the agency, manage budgets, billing and other financial performance requirements
  • Good writing skills
  • Dutch native-speaker, with an excellent knowledge of English and French

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Client Management & Satisfaction: Responsible for core client deliverables and establishing strong relationships with lead day to day clients. Demonstrates ability to work independently from Account Director, understands the brief and is able to allocate resources to each task. Makes decisions on the best course of action.
  • New Business Understanding & Capability: Supports the senior team with tactical implementation. Inputs to the strategy, planning and proposals of the pitch process, providing insight and analysis and writing case studies. Presents at relevant pitches demonstrating presentation and sales skills.
  • Commercial Acumen: Manages budgets effectively keeping the team and client aware of any issues and guides Account Executives through the budget management and forecasting processes. Will have some knowledge of account commercials (profitability). Keeps internal business management systems up to date and demonstrates clear understanding of capacity planning.
  • Specialist Expertise: Proactively shares own expertise and specialism and contributes to thought leadership across the agency. Demonstrates an active commitment to own specialist community.
  • People Management: Assists with efforts to recruit, hire and develop staff. Conducts twice-yearly appraisals for direct reports with the assistance of a Director. Manages staff to maximise performance and productivity. Provides a good example to junior staff in terms of professional conduct in the workplace and with clients.
  • Initiative and General Management: Is familiar with, and supports achievement of, the agency’s vision and exemplifies the agency’s values. Participates actively in OPR weekly planning meetings, team meetings and client meetings. Routinely seeks and shares information with colleagues. Assists peers in problem solving. Delegates effectively. Routinely recommends and implements solutions when problems arise. Continually seeks new ways to learn, improve and contribute. Exhibits a sense of curiosity about client work and seeks more information and knowledge in response.
